That is right, there is something about naturists and towels... According to Douglas Adam's "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" the most useful thing when hitchhiking around the world is a towel. For naturists the most important "clothing" when you are at a resort or a campingsite also is a towel. The towel is for hygienic reasons used to sit or lay on, it can be used to cover an erection and it can even be used to dry you after swimming. So yes, naturists do almost always carry a piece of clothing when "running around naked" - it might be a plain towel or a more fancy sarong or pareo. Very unpleasant things may happen when a naturist forgets his towel/imagesl. Read this article . |

Being a naturist is first of all a matter of lifestyle, not wether you are member of a certain club. You can easily bath naked from a Danish beach, or walk around naked at home cleaning or cooking without a member-card.
But if you choose to join a club, it can give you a lot of advantages. On the one hand you will get the opportunity to meed other naturists in a safe environment, and on the other hand you may acheive rebates on different events and on camping sites. You membership is not unimportant for the club or organisation you choose to join. Your membership fee will raise the clubs possibillities to work for naturism, and a greater number of members gives the organisation a greater weight when talking to press or authorities. So the answer to the question is, t/imageshat although it is not directly nessecary, you should join a club in order to strengthen naturism and enhance everybodys possibillities of living the naked life. |

{mosimage} The "INF-card" is a card that proves the membership of an organistaion that is associated to the International Naturist Federation (INF) . In Denmark the INF-card is issued to members of Dansk Naturist Union (DNU). Wether you need the card or not, depends on how you want to live the naturist life. There is free access to all Danish beaches - whatever you are member of the one or the other organisation or you are on your own. On the Danish naturist campings you can also check in as a normal camper without the card, but on the six places that are member of DNU the cart will give you some discount. If you travel abroad things looks a bit different. If you ar/imagese travelling as a family, you are welcome almost everywhere without the card, but if you are a single man without the card, you might find the gate closed in many places where you would be welcomed with the card. If you travel without the INF-card it is always to take contact to the accomodations you want to visit before you arrive. If you travel with i.e. Rassol Rejser, their catalog will inform you about places that demand the card. |

It is not simple to answer this qustion. There is no doubt that the limited number of naturist in Danmark would have more influence if they were united, but that is not how things look like right now. On the other hand the two Danish organisations complement each other quite good. Dansk Naturist Union (DNU)Dansk Naturist Union (DNU) is the old traditional naturist organisation, and they represent Danmark in the International Naturist Federatio/images/images/imagesn (INF). DNU is organized with a number of local clubs of which six are running naturist campings. That is why activities in DNU are closely connected to campihg. Selv om DNU's formål bl.a. er at "at virke for accept og udbredelse af naturismens idé" ville det nok være synd at hævde at DNU har markeret sig tydeligt i medierne i de sidste mange år. Danske Naturister (DN)Danske Naturister (DN) is not an old organisation. It was founded in the year 2000 as Danske Unge Naturister (DUN). In 2003 the name was changed to Danske Naturister while Danske Unge Naturister became the name of an activity-group inside DN. DN has numerous local clubs (all non-landed) which arranges naturist-swimming in local swimming facilities during winter. DN is not directly involved in running camping sites, but two of the largest Danish naturist campings has left DNU and is now collaborating with DN. DN is working on spreading accept and knowledge about naturism, and has amongst other things published the book "Nøgen Naturligvis!", they has participated in founding the first and only Danish travel agency for naturist recreation Rassol Travel. DN is promoting skinny-dipping in Denmark, and is running the internet-service strandguide.dk. Futhermore DN is running some open internet-forums about naturism. |

It is very common that in a partnership, it is the man that first get interested in naturism. Very often the female part is rather hesitant or reluctant. But don't give up - experience has show that although it from start is the man that is most interested in trying naturism, the woman ends up in being the most convinced naturist. One of the first things you must ensure is that you actually has asked your partner. Actually many men assumes that their partner is not interested, and therefor they have in fact not really asked their partner to join in in trying naturism. But if you are sure that your part don't share your actual interest in naturism you are in a situation that many men has experienced before you. |

There are many different definitions on naturism. The official one, from INF reads like this: "Naturism is a lifestyle in harmony with nature, expressed through social nudity, and characterised by self-respect of people with different opinions and of the environment." International Naturist Federation Another definition can be read on the French Tourist Office's international homepage, that features a good chapter about naturism and the french naturist industry: "Respect for oneself and for others. Naturism encourages respect for each person, for their differences and their uniqueness. Being naked together helps us accept the human body with its /imagesqualities and also its flaws. A return to sources. Away from the stress of our daily lives, the body is freed, the mind opens up and we look for harmony with nature. Quite naturally, everyone contributes to preserving the peace and quiet and cleanliness of their environment. A friendly atmosphere. Family and friends are at the heart of naturist holidays" Maison de la France In Liz & James Eggers "The Complete Guide to Nudism and Naturism" you will find another and very well-argued definition: "Naturism is gthe enjoyment of getting as naked as possible, wherever appropriate, alone or with others, just for its own sake." Liz & James Egger i "The Complete Guide to Nudism and Naturism" The online encyclopedia Wikipedia has also an excellent description of naturism. |

An interresting question. And it is not less interssting if we divide the skinny-dippers in different categories: Winterbathers, bathing in lakes and the sea all year round. They are most happy when they must break the ice before they can reach the water. Winterbathers has a long tradition for batning without swimsuits, and i many clubs for winterbathers the genders are not separated while bathing. So according to common definitions, they are naturists. The question is wether the winther bathers consider themselves naturists. Morning bathers, people who are so lucky that they live so close to the water so they kan take a quick dip before starting the day. Alså amongst morning bathers there is a widely spread tradition for bathing in puris naturalibus, but bathing is often not a social event. The common skinny-dippers, they bathe and sunbathe clothes-free on the beaches during summer. Many of them doesn't consider themselves naturists, and they are not members of a naturist organisation. But since Danske Naturister started, a growing number of skinny-dippers has chosen to join the real fullblood naturists. But watever the different skinny dippers calls themselves and feel like, the share the enjoyment of the feeling of water all over the body and the absence of the soggy swimsuit with the naturists. Enjoy life naked! |

For hundreds of years, people have assumed a connection between nudity and sex - after all, the only time many people are nude, other than while bathing, is during sex. Naturists reject this assumption. Nudity does not automatically lead to sex - and, incidentally, you can have sex with your clothes on. The two are quite simply not related. from rec.nude |
